Development Planning

  • Work with nonprofit organizations to understand their financial goals and fundraising needs

  • SWOT Analysis of past successes and pitfalls

  • Develop fundraising strategies and plans that align with the organization's goals and objectives

  • Reviewing marketing and messaging strategies in fundraising

Implementation of Plans

  • Implement fundraising campaigns and initiatives, including marketing and communications to donors

  • Deliverables are created or edited to align with best practices, including direct mail, online giving, events, and major gifts programs

  • Provide guidance and support to nonprofit staff and volunteers in all aspects of fundraising, including donor cultivation and stewardship, gift solicitation, and grant writing

  • Training on having a successful major donor meeting and making the “ask”

Evaluate and Adjust Strategies

  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising performance, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure financial goals are met or exceeded

  • Teach long-term staff how to build and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, and other funding sources

  • Prepare reports and presentations on fundraising progress and results

Leadership

  • Build culture, teamwork, and cohesiveness for the existing development team

  • Identify staff strengths to be sharpened and professional development opportunities

  • Recruiting or training of new development staff

Ally for Executive Director

  • Provide training, resources, and mentorship for Executive Director

  • Provide tools or workshops for board development

AREAS OUTSIDE MY EXPERTISE/INTEREST

Event Specialist

  • I do not execute large fundraising events. Earlier in my career I lead teams with events with upwards of 1200 attendees, but that is not where I prioritize my energy

  • In contrast, I will advise your team and will oversee small events like house parties

Grant Writing

  • My expertise is not in writing grant proposals and submitting follow-up evaluation reports

  • I am good at editing for clarity and readability and will advise on determining what grants are a good fit for an organization and how to best communicate about your organization to funders
